NEMR Scholarship

NEMR will award 6 scholarships in the following amount:

Guidelines

Terms and Conditions

All applications will be reviewed, and awardees will be selected by our NEMR education Committee.
Scholarships will be awarded on a one-time basis and will not be renewable. Student must be enrolled by the Fall Semester of when awardees are announced.
Awards will be paid upon proof of registration at an institution of higher education and will be paid by Aug 2023.
Scholarships will be awarded without regard to race, ethnicity, national origin, religion, gender or disability.
Incomplete applications will not be considered.
All NEMR Scholarship applications are due back by March 29th, 2024.
Awardees will be posted on NEMR website by May 1, 2024.
If a student has already filled out an application with Foundation for Rural Service, that application may be submitted to NEMR as well for eligibility.

Instructions

Type or print all required information. You must completely fill out all of the application or your submission may be rejected.
Prepare a 500-word essay on one of the following topics:
- Describe your most significant accomplishment and explain why you believe it to be your most outstanding.
- Describe the community in which you live and indicate how it has influenced you to be the person you are.
- What industry or opportunity would entice you to return to a rural community after completing your education, and why?
Make sure to use spell check and grammar before submitting your essay.
Submit 2 letters of recommendation that are not family related, but can be from an educator or employer.
Include two copies of your transcripts, including, the most recent semester. Transcripts do not have to be an official copy.
All signatures must be provided where indicated on the application.
All materials, including recommendation letters, must be submitted together.

Submitting an application for the FRS Scholarship online automatically submits it into NEMR's scholarship program.

The Foundation for Rural Services awards grants to eligible high school seniors across rural America in the following amount:

FRS - Washington D.C. Youth Tour

Eligibility Requirements

1) Applicant must be a freshman, sophomore, junior, or senior in high school.

2) Applicant must be 15, 16, or 17 years old during FRS Youth Tour dates.

• FRS Youth Tour Date: June 3rd - June 7th, 2024

3) Applicant's parents/guardians must have service with NEMR.

4) Applicant will be required to write a one-page essay covering the topic of "Why I Should Be Chosen For The FRS Youth Tour"

5) Applicant must completely fill out the FRS Youth Tour Application and signed by the applicant.

• During the Youth Tour trip, we take photographs of the students to share the tour's activities. These photos may be published through our website, social media pages, newsletters, etc. We seek your consent in allowing us to publish photos which may involve you.

***If you can meet these requirements, we encourage you to apply for the FRS Youth Tour scheduled for June 3rd - June 7th, 2024***
